Energy and Environment

Dealing with our environment in a responsible way and reconciling it with the increasing demand for energy presents our society with great challenges. We must be cautious in our use of pesticides, propellants, CO2 or simply water as a resource. This is a challenge for each and every one of us personally. Although it will be difficult to stop using harmful substances completely and immediately, how much is too much?

Precise measurements of the quantities used is the first step. Firstly, these must be continuously monitored and checked. Only then can critical points be identified and improvements initiated. This process often relies on flow measurements and control of liquid or gaseous media. Consequently it must be carried out in a diligent, transparent and officially documented way. Regular calibration is therefore essential.

Subsequently the results are used to develop processes that are as economical and environmentally friendly as possible. The developers must also work to this end on the individual technical components. These include valves, pumps, seals and metering instruments. Products are thoroughly tested on test benches to ensure that the specifications meet the requirements.

Energy and Environment in Power Generation

For example, turbine engine power generation in the energy industries must be as efficient as possible. Fuel, water and air intakes must be measured accurately. Cooling of blades must also be optimizes to minimize failure potential. A precisely measured amount of cooling air must flow through their openings.

Here also, there are special test benches that test these turbine blades regularly and with high precision for the required flow rates. TrigasFI not only builds these test benches. It also offers service and maintenance for energy and environment industry, as well as regular re-calibration. The service offer also includes test benches built by other manufacturers..

Our calibration ranges

On the one hand, we can calibrate gas measuring devices with very small flow ranges of a few millilitres. For this purpose we have various For Gases, we offer DAkkS accredited flow calibration on our Sonic Nozzle test benches up to 20000 Nl/min. With two primary Bell Provers and Laminar Flow Element test benches we can calibrate as low as 0.1 Nml/min.

We calibrate not only with air, but also with many non-hazardous gases. Please contact our lab for details.

For liquids we calibrate with our DAkkS accredited Displacer/Piston calibrators over a range from 0.00005 l/min (0.05 ml/min) up to 2000 l/min. With these primary, high precision flow standards we calibrate with an overall accuracy of 0.04 % of the measured value.

With our high-flow water loop we can calibrate at flows up to 5000 l/min*.

* Due to repair work, we currently only offer calibrations up to 4700 l/min.

Onsite-Calibrations for Energy and Environment

For critically important systems that cannot be removed from their location and sent the laboratory for calibration, TrigasFI technicians regularly visit the premises of customers worldwide to carry out on-site calibrations.

With suitable preparation not only the measuring instrument itself but also complete measurement assembly can be calibrated, which allows the installation effects to be taken into account, resulting in even more accurate flow measurement results.

Our Contribution

The TrigasFI calibration technicians work closely with your specialists in energy and environment industry. As a result, meaningful test data are generated that ultimately result in better understanding of the performance of your equipment.

This is our contribution to accurate measurements and dosing for minimum consumption. As a result, our use of resources remains as environmentally friendly as possible. In many areas there is an increasing demand for accredited calibration. This ensures traceability to national and international standards.

Our service for the energy and environment

In addition to calibration we also service and repair your instruments. If it is not possible to do so directly in our premises or, we gladly organize repairs with the original manufacturers for you. As a result you receive your instruments back fully functional and calibrated.

If a repair is no longer economically viable, we will be happy to provide objective, non-partisan advise on a replacement instruments. If you wish, we will also procure and independently calibrate the replacement equipment.

Our service offering to you is complemented by our own flow test bench design and construction, as well as manufacturer-independent flow training seminars.

DAkkS ISO 17025 accredited Calibrations

Throughout the industry, DAkkS calibrations are more and more frequently requested because they guarantee traceability to national and international standards. ISO/IEC 17025 is in principle the “book” for all calibration laboratories. There are many similarities with ISO 9000, but ISO 17025 is much more concrete and direct about procedures and standards and how they relate to the competence of a calibration laboratory.

We are DAkkS accredited not only for calibrations that we perform in our Neufahrn Lab, but for on-site calibrations as well, performed at your locations.

You can download our accreditation here. In the annexes you will find a listing of accredited uncertainties and can use this information to determine if the laboratory meets your requirements.

Trigas offers you here one of the highest accuracy standards with one of the widest measuring ranges.
